History of Craftsmanship
Over forty five years ago I was apprenticed within the renowned Droste family business in Warrnambool to become a joiner & cabinet maker. I soon began fitting out yacht interiors for a local boat building crew, which began by fitting out of forty foot yachts and eventually led to a position supervising the fitting of luxury super-yachts built by Oceanfast in Western Australia. These super yachts required staircases of intricate design and craftsmanship and it became my stepping stone into staircase construction.
After returning to Warrnambool, Victoria with my young family, I reestablished my Cabinet Making business to incorporate shop-fitting and architectural design work such as staircases, furniture, ship-righting and custom designed kitchens.
To this day I gain satisfaction working with beautiful timbers, and creating pieces of furniture, staircases, kitchens, and installations that give great enjoyment to my clients. Over the years I have delighted in working on challenging projects that other woodworkers may turn away from, and take great pleasure in “Doing The Unusual, As Usual!”
Recreationally I practice yoga as a way of assisting my posture. As a result, I have commenced designing and building yoga props to assist in supporting the various yoga positions. My range of yoga props have proved to be very popular and beneficial with fellow yoga practitioners.

About Me

I inherit the craft from a long line of cabinetmakers who originate in Holland. Before I was born my father brought his young family out to Australia after the war, and used his skills to build up the family Cabinet Making and Joinery business. I was fortunate to learn the skills and a great passion was born to do unusual woodworking projects that other woodworkers may shy away from.
I have a great respect and love of the various forms and textures of wood. My greatest passion is to design and create individual or bespoke furniture pieces to suit the requirements of the discerning client. It gives me great satisfaction in knowing that the beauty of the pieces I create can be admired and handed down from one generation to another because they last.
